Projects and Web Tools
Here are some Web-based projects I'm currently working on (updates coming soon).
- AdaptABit.com
After upgrading my old Macintosh G4, I began tinkering with the built-in Apache server. This site is being served from my Mac, and will soon act as a development sandbox, complete with notes for other users. (I am currently shutting my G4 down frequenty as it is now in my bedroom. This site may not be accessible at all times.)
- A Scale Model of the Solar System
I've always been fascinated by the mind-boggling scale of celestial distances. I created this page to show the relative sizes and orbital distances (average) of the sun and nine planets. The page is nearly 6 million pixels wide (1 pixel = 1000 km). [Originally created as a study for an upcoming Flash tool, this page was picked up by a number of sites on the Web, nearly maxing out my site's traffic quota. I need to rebuild it to display correctly in IE7.]
- Etiquette-Protocol.org
This site has been an on-and-off project for me since 1995. Currently, I am looking to use a MySQL database, and build the site using PHP. Of course, I may find some other way to make this site do what I want (most likely ASP.Net/SQL). It really depends on what technology I find.
